From the Clan page on the Warframe wikia: warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Clan#Clan_TiersIt states that clan sizes are limited based on the biggest hall that is constructed in the Dojo; currently, our clan tier according to our Dojo is in fact the 30-member Shadow tier, even though we have 50-some members right now, so I'm not sure how the tiering is supposed to work at the moment (if it is in fact implemented). However, considering that the Shadow clan tier is allegedly 30 members max (Great Hall), perhaps we should consider cutting down on clan size until we fit properly in that tier. This way, we actually stand a chance when it comes to Operations, as we won't have to compete against clans that have 100 members. How does this sound to you guys?

It appears that although our members are active, many do not log nearly as many hours per week as others. This is understandable, as not everyone's situations are the same (e.g. some may have only part-time jobs while others have full-time). However, unless this is accounted for, it will be exceedingly difficult to cut down to the 30-member limit.
As such, perhaps we can create an extended clan community, where the less hardcore players are not registered with the clan in the game, but are still considered part of the clan de facto. As such, these members will not be pressured to contribute when it comes to clan events that may clash with their real-life obligations, but may still reap the benefits for prior contributions. For example, they may have free access to the Dojo for Research, Dueling, or whatever else may come along.
The only major drawback I see at this point is that this requires some sort of external activity, as through either a forum like this one or a chat client like Skype or AIM, neither of which seem to have drawn much interest from members at this point.

...OR.
When clan alliances are implemented, if they work the way I hope they do, we can have the primary "active" Whispering Tenno clan and then form an alliance with a secondary clan that consists of the less active members. This can be a way to execute the whole "extended clan community" concept.

should just have splinter group of the faction who really want to do the hardcore stuff This is basically how I hope the alliance system will work, as that would remove the need to have someone host the Dojo for people who are no longer part of the primary clan.

-_- Do I really have to spell it out for you? 1. Clan alliances are coming whether we like it or not, so we may as well take advantage of it. 2. We don't recruit "every scrub on the block"; that's Broframe. 3. If you were one of those less-active contributors who would be kicked as a result of your proposal, would you really have suggested that? 4. Yes, you may have the best interest of the clan at hand, but remember that the clan is based on the people who helped it along to where it is now, to include those less-active members. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTsfwbzvME8

So what are the odds that we get a top 20 or whatever listing so that those people who want to be in the more hardcore sect of the alliance can gauge if that is even possible?

The "odds" depend entirely on how active members are for clan-ranked events and what tier we are in; if we're not all very active but we're in, say, the 100-member tier, then we're pretty badly off for getting top X.
This is why I think a smaller clan would be better overall; a small clan of very active people (such as Niinjiitsu) greatly increases the chances of getting ranked, because not only does it mean we don't have to compete against larger, more active clans, it also means that we will be in a tier where more clans are given rewards for being ranked (e.g. in the Informer event, only the top three 1000+ clans were given statues, but the top ten 1 - 10 clans were given statues).
As far as the less active members go, they probably don't care about the statues if they don't play much anyway; I'm currently trying to separate people into the more vs less active categories.

I think 30 should be the max for the Elite Shadow Whispering Tenno. 50 is too many to keep track of and coordinate. THE " Casual" clan should have as many as you can get. We can pick and choose and move from there.
